Outreach Opportunities

We are a small but incredibly active congregation.  We work together to bring God's word to life though outreach Mission Trips as well as support many local organizations.  Below outline just a few Outreach Opportunities we've been able to support through the years.

Mission Trips

Our most recent past mission trips have taken us to Maine and Western, MA where adult and youth members of our congregation team up with a group from South Walpole United Methodist Church to aide neigbors in need.

This summer our team traveled to Kingfield, ME, during the first full week of July.

The group was on a mission work week under the auspices of the United Methodist Economic Ministries in a beautiful but needy area near the Appalachian Trail. This year a few small jobs were tackled before the whole group set to work creating a warmer, drier, safer home for a family of six.  Two individual bedrooms were made from one large area inside the house while part of the house outside was resheathed, insulated on 5 walls and underneath, and sided.  It was unusual for so many of us to work on one site, but the UMEM took advantage of our team which boasted several very knowledgeable leaders to train and work with the rest of the group, eager to learn new skills.  The large project was completed in one week due to the determination of everyone involved (and a couple of extra long work days).

Breaking Bread

Breaking Bread is a community meal hosted at United Congregational Church in Walpole every Monday night, sponsored by Walpole familes of Faith.    All people are welcome that the table to enjoy food and fellowship.   The Walpole Families fo Faith comes together as  people of God, from different faith families, to unite in service meals.

About once a month, Union Congregational Church takes it's turn to provide a meal, both cooking and serving, to anyone who attends.  It's been a wonderful opportunity for the congregation to come together, including our youth of all ages, to interact with and enrich our community.

City Mission Society

Every year around the holiday season, members from Union Congregational Church donate warm clothing and toys for the City Mission Society's "Christmas Shop".   Check out how we are collecting items for the Christmas Shop this year here!

For decades, the Christmas Shop has serced as a catalyst for people of faity to find ways to reach out to others.  Each year CMA collects thousands of gifts, such as clothes, toys, books and household goods, which are distributed to families around greater Boston.  The Christmas shop brings hope and joy to those most in need during the holiday season.
